Rosacea / Broken Capillaries / Areas of Redness
Rosacea is a very common medical condition that affects up to 5% of the general population. The symptoms include rosy cheeks, red patches or small blood vessels of the face. It is often a progressive process that primarily involves the cheeks and nasal area, the forehead and the chin. Rosacea is made worse by UV radiation and other common triggers. The face typically gets red and stays red. Our treatments will help to eliminate Rosacea and any other types of superficial redness.
Rosacea
Simply put Rosacea is a chronic redness of the skin that occurs most commonly on the face. If left untreated the redness can become persistent and develop into full blown Rosacea. Acute cases of Rosacea can be threatening to your health by growing into red raw-looking lumps of extra tissue on the skin. Rosacea can affect anyone, however people with fair skin who blush easily are at greater risk. A variety of medical therapies are available to control Rosacea and alleviate the redness. Dr Armogan uses a number of treatments available and may in fact suggest a combination treatment customized for your condition.
If you experience intermittent redness of skin you may be at risk for Rosacea as this can be one of the earliest signs of the disorder. Persistent and stubborn redness is another sign of early stages of Rosacea. Also, visible capillaries, specifically on or around the nose area are a very common early warning sign in Rosacea patients. In more advanced cases of Rosacea, persistent eye irritation can occur as well as burning or stinging sensations in the affected area. Another sign of advanced Rosacea is skin dryness and formation of plaques on the skin. This can lead to thickened skin in more advanced cases of Rosacea. Lasers and intense pulsed light sources are the most advanced and very effective method of improving Rosacea. These modalities work by gently vaporizing and destroying the vessels that are responsible for formation of Rosacea.
